3D dxf to g code converter

I used to be a happy user ogf ONeCNC til I lost the USB key and they demanded 4K to buy an entire new seat! Forget them- I bang most of my simple files out in notepad- drilling, mortices, straight moves. But I need something that will take a dxf file of a surface I draw in Cadkey, make lots of planes at the stepover increments and intersect the planes and surface for a quick and accurate toolpath), then can send a dxf file out. All I need is something to read the dxf and output G01 moves in X, Y and Z, all one line. Don't need coolant, Mcodes, all that fancy stuff.

I can't seem to find anything free or cheap which does all three axes. Help? Seems like it should be a cinch to write up.

If you can export in as an .stl file, then try Freemill. www.cncportal.com

Has to be dxf, stl or vrml won't work

On trying that it seems that stl and vrml files need polygons or some sort of face, the files I am using consist of lines or polylines, occasionally arcs. In other words the geometry is only basic line/arc entities which I need to generate g code and coords for. I attached the dxf file

Hi there,

from what you say you effectively want to gcode a .DXF toolpath that has nodes distributed through 3 dimensions.

CamBam or gmax/CNC_Toolkit can generate gcode for this kind of .DXF

EDIT: See the image below for your file loaded in CamBam FREE Beta...

Hope this helps

I have an AutoCAD macro that'll work for 3D polylines, but not arcs. But you'd need AutoCAD 2002 or newer to use it.
