Software to cut .STL in to slices

hi Guys,

Im looking for some software to cut a .stl or other 3d file in to slices so i can cut each slice out on a sign cutter and laminate them together to build a 3d object, The big question is,,,, does anyone know of any software that can do this, perhaps shareware or a trial version etc, so i can see how well this works
for prototypes,

all input is appreciated.

MeshCAM can take an .stl and output g-code for multiple "slices", if that's what you're looking for. http://www.grzsoftware.com

VS3D can also perform contouring on relief surfaces from STL, DXF, etc.
Contours ("tracings") can be done at each different Z height. Each contour path is automatically offset (in the XY plane) by the tool bit's specified offset.
