Problem- countersink possible in alphacam?

hi guys
i have got to qoute a company for some foam they want machined but im not sure if i can do it!!
does anyone know if there is a countersink function in alphacam?

i don't really want to buy a new cutter as i would only do this once in a blue moon.

any suggestions?

There is none that I know of. If you want to make a countersinked hole then you have to use a bit with the proper angle. You will have to draw the "Cross section" of the tool and save it into your Tool Box as an User Defined Tool. Once you do that alphacam will use this drawing to give you proper visualization of the countersinked hole in the Simulation process. This is to ensure that you are going to proper depth so there will not be any guessing at the programming station. Hope this helps ya.

There are formulas you can use to figure the depth of a countersink for 82º, 90º, 100º, and 120º angles for a desired final diameter c'sink. I don't have the chart available right now but I will try to post the formulas tomarrow. Here is one that I just found with a Google search, just input the diameter and included angle and find the needed Z depth:

Sorry, I forgot to bring the C'sink formula chart home today. You probably don't need it right now as long as you can use the online calculator. I will try to post them as they are handy formulas to have.

Use 3d engraving but be sure you describe the "user defined" tool properly or upgrade to V8 and it is selectable.
