I have a need for a simple serial numbering program.
I want my workers on the shop floor to be able to punch in a serial number and have a gcode appear.
The serial-numbering machine has a small work envelope approx 2 inches by 4 inches.
I can't have them screwing around with a cad system. I would like a little window to ask" what serial number do you want", have the user type it in on the keypad, and have the gcodes appear in a file, ready for turbocnc to run.
I could write this myself, but I'm sure somebody already has, so I don't want to reinvent the wheel (again :-).
Doe anyone know of such a utility?
Thanks
Bill
Millwrite 2000 engraving software is pretty decent to use.
To begin with, you'd have to set up the first sample as you'd like it to appear. Just type it in, and you can adjust the text parameters extensively.
Once the first one is done, you just alter the text only and repost. You might take a while to get the routine down, but I only used it very little and found it very easy to get the knack of running it.
First you get good, then you get fast. Then grouchiness sets in.
