Hi, I'm currently evaluating a number of lower cost 3D Cad/CAM alternatives to include as part of a membership based workshop I'm putting together. Overall I'm looking to provide a couple of CAD/CAM alternatives to my members for their use in inventing, designing, making ... whatever! I'd like to have 3 PC's setup with software that provides both CAD and CAM capabilities. Not necessarily the same software on each machine, but definitely would be nice. Machines will include: Rapid Proto machine, 3D Milling Machine (Bridgeport R2E3 or similar, maybe a Tormach) and a Laser Engraver My key criteria are: a) Cost - Both CAD and CAM capabilities need to be less than $2000 b) Software needs to be easy to use & easy to learn on your own c) 3D Milling is required I'm currently leaning towards Alibre CAD with either their CAD addon or VisualMill Standard in a stand alone. Any suggestions? Steve Club Workshop, Denver. |

| ive recently purchased dolphin cam level 3 , i'm just picking up on it and still trying to get up to speed but for the price it seems to be a pretty solid package , Rodney's very reasonable to deal with and is quick with responses

| Check your locate college..... usually they offer you a Student version for $200 or less. After one year, it will turn off all the save and cam feature, but at least you can get the experience of the CAD/CAM.
