I have been building guitars for a long time and now that I have a cnc router that I built I want to do the carve top portion, for those who don't know what I'm talking about think of a Gibson Les Paul, how the top is shaped. I am using Artcam and would post in that forum but it sees very little action and mine is a more general question. So first off can I do complex shaping in Artcam. Second, very briefly, how do I get started to draw the shaping, mind you it's not uniform it varies in depth and curve as it goes around the top of the guitar and then lets up as it gets near the neck. I've seen the artcam turtorials on creating a profile for shaping but first this is going around a multi curved item and as I said the pattern is not uniform? Thanks for any help. As I said it doesn't need to be a lengthy tutorial on how to do it, unless you want to, but a few ideas of how I should start would be good. |

| I can't help you with ArtCam, but I think the word your looking for is "convex"? I did a quik search with "convex" over at the ArtCam forum got a few results. Hope this helps? 1) http://forum.artcam.com/viewtopic.ph...ghlight=convex 2) http://forum.artcam.com/search.php?mode=results (use the keyword "convex" in the search). .
