What format are you exporting it in?
Hello my name is Jason I go to highschool and I'm in tenth grade. The class is expriencing a problem when we create a oval or circle using design cad 2000 When we export the circle or oval from Cad and then import the file into CAD or Mastercam. Straight segements making up the circle or oval are shown when cutting with a CNC mill or router. How can we reduce or eliminate these segments.

I've tried exporting it in ".dwg" ".igs"
I don't use DesignCAD or masterCAM, but if you post a sample .dwg file, I can tell you if the problem is with the DesignCAD export.
Your saying the circle is made up of small straight segments, correct?

Try the auto cleanup function. Not sure if Mastercam has that function or not.
I use Designcad V17. I've notice that you need to select "save as a line" in the popup toolbar otherwise the circle is translated as a series of straight lines with angles every so far comming back to the start point when it is exported to dxf.
Hi Gerry, yes you are correct it is made up of small straight segments.

Save your image or export as DXF file. We use Autocad 2008 but always save the file as Autocad 14-DXF.
Good luck
Thank you all for your responses.
