    newbie cad software questions

    i know this question has been asked before, but i dont even know what to ask.
    i want to do some basic 2d plasma cutting.
    what kind of software do i need is there any free stuff.
    i am aquiring steppers and building a controller parallel.
    i am using windows.

    so if i knew what to search for i could find it in the forums
