I've been working with Solidworks for a long time. Right now I'm using 2005. In the past I've done mechanical design, with some small forays into art stuff, tracing pictures for a plasma table, mostly. Recently I embarked on a megalithic project.. to reproduce this in CAD, from reference pictures: ![]() And here's how far I've gotten.. ![]() I've started on the hands, and run into lots of problems which basically boil down to the fact that Solidworks doesn't seem to be oriented towards seriously complex shapes and organic curves. I'm hoping there's something out there that's more suited to this application.. but if not, I think I have some weeks of work cut out for me. Is something better?

| I've heard of these all. I can Google all day, but what I was really looking for was a recommendation. If that was unclear, consider this a clarification. *shrug*

| I didn't google. I've been a Lightwave user for a lot of years, and have seen a lot of similar work done with it. And both Silo and Modo are very similar. Never used Modo, though. But I'd recommend either Lightwave or Silo, since I've used both. Be aware, though, that they are far different from Solidworks.
