I'm responsible for the programming and machining at the company I work for but I don't have a lot of stainless experience. Does anyone have any info as to the proper speeds and feeds for cutting 15-5. It's solution treated to about 30 Rc. The tools I use include: Cobalt drills w/ 135-deg split point Carbide endmills - uncoated 4-flute Face mills- 1-1/2" dia w/TPG-322 inserts, 0-deg lead; 3" w/SEEB insert, 0-deg lead; 4" w/SEKT insert, 45-deg lead; 12" w/SPG-322 inserts, 0-deg lead. I need chip load info, speeds, feeds, peck depths, etc... I currently run the drills at 50/60 SFM and carbide endmills at about 150 SFM w/about .0002 chip load for endmills under 1/8" and about .001 chip load over. I have consulted the machinist handbook but would like some practical advice. Thanks, Bill |
