I am in the market for some lathe CAM software at the moment. Budget is small - $500 (£300) give or take. I have just downloaded the Mach2 OEM version of Dolphin partmaster, and while I have not created any code yet, I am impressed. Does anyone have any experience here, or perhaps you could recommend some other software? My primary project is to turn out some R/C car alloy wheels, but with my complete lack of experience, a good piece ofsoftware should help me out a lot. |

| Kong, I'm not sure what is out there for a lathe in the that price range. It seems like a lot of programs are geared to a mill. I have a Autocad lisp routine that will output gcode for a lathe. It outputs OD, ID and groove gcode from your Autocad polylines. It compensates for your tool radius or groover width. I've been working on it as I have time and open for suggestions on it. It is limited in what it can do, but it's free if you want to download it. Bill |

| Thanks for the offer wjbzone, but I don't own Autocad I'm stuck with good old Turbocad, but I am liking Dophin more and more now, and with the special "oem" version for £325, it seems like a good deal. The only problem I guess, is once I get "handy" with the lathe, the software will not be adequate anymore! |
