Is anyone familiar with programming with Catia. I have been using this software for a little while but I am not able to get a really smooth finish. It seems as though the finish is always choppy. Anyone have any advice? Thx. |

i dont know catia , but you can try to make a smaller chordal deviationBut you problems are not solved if the milling machine dosent help you , i mean if the machine can not keep the points from the nc programm can you post a pictrue what you try to finish ? and what machine you use ? |

| Thank you for your response. My stepover/scallop height would be set at .001 and my machinig tolerance at .0001. My program was huge. But I had to do this to get a good finish. We are using an Acer Bedmill. The machine is fine. We have created a program with EdgeCAM and the finish came out better and the program was a lot smaller. I cannot find anyone who knows the trick to getting a good finish using Catia. |

| I am a Catia programmer and it sounds like you need to loosen up the mach/tol (.0001 will add a ton of points with no regards to finish) and tighten up your scallop height to .0005 for a much better finish when kellering a twisted surface. Change your mach/tol to .001 for every M.O. |
