Hello, What would be the best way to go about adding a large fastener type thread to my design. Should I creat it from scratch? I am using progeCAD, most commands are the same as AutoCad. Thanks, Pete Gallo |

| Proper helical 3d threads in autocad are impossible without addon LISPs. They are also completely unessisary for manufacturing drawings. In 3d just make a hole to the minor diameter of the thread, and in the layout if you are not making a section just draw two hidden lines representing the minor and major diameters. |

Hi Impact, The part I have designed will be cut on a cnc mill (which I don't have yet). Also the large diameter (70 mm) internal and external thread will be done with the mill. If the thread is not in the part design where would it be plotted. Maybe with the CAM? I am new to this. Thank You Pete Gallo |

| thread milling is easy enough to program on the shop floor and you don't realy need to use cam for it In Heidenhain (not familiar with many other controlls) all you do is move out to the major dia of the thread (in x) then an incremental polar rotation of 360 degrees and an incremental z move of the pitch (with a thread comb type of cutter), up is better as you mill away from the swarf. |

Hi Syil_Australia, I do not have the CNC equipment as of yet but could you give me the name of the Wizards for the Internal & External threading so I can file the names for when I will need them. Thanks Pete Gallo |
