    Question SolidEdge, anyone?

    Hi all,

I just realized, there are forums for uge applications such as SolidWorks and Autocad, but not for SolidEdge.

Anyone out there except me using SolidEdge?

    Regards,
    Sven

    I've use it sometimes.

It seems that some things are easier to do with it than Solidworks.

SE is a great utility,it's very stable, the tutorals are top quallity and EDS's support is above par.

I dont think there would be much use for a thread for SE.

Although I have been known to be wrong in the past.

    Thanx

    Boros

I can't more than agree, it's a superb tool with plenty of support. But so is SW and AC too.

    Cheers (It's St Pat's day!)

I've been using it for the last couple of months...I like troubleshooting my designs in it. I still export the part files out to dxf to generate the gcodes for cnc. I wish there is a better way of generating gcode without the 5K add on software.

    king- check out www.deskproto.com

    its got a 30-day full-working trial

i have reinstalled windows about 5 times since i got it... i have used it to create gcode for a bunch of machines... its amazingly simple, and loads .stl files from soldworks and i would imagine solidedge or any solid modeler

i couldnt vouch for the quality or accuracy of the toolpaths however.

virtual gibbs at my school does a much better job of creating optomized paths - but its interface is lame...

i have tried a bunch of these cam programs, and untill i have a real working machine here at home will use deskproto to create easy g-code.

as soon as ive got my new machine finished, i will probably learn mastercam, or gibbs, or solidcam, or whatever...
