Cam Programming On ID 1/2-14 NPT Threads

Hey Guys,

I am currently using Kennametal’s new 2 Flute Thread Milling Cutter and using Kennametal’s new thread milling software off of there web page. There software has problems!! If you use the settings that they suggest, you end up with a pipe thread to deep and to big. I tweaked the program a little and finally got a good thread to a ASI-1/2-14NPT Gage. The only problem is that there is not enough chip clearance built into the cutter to cut the thread in the 2 passes that they want you to do. I was wondering if there is any free software out there that will allow you to program this Pipe Tape if you know what you Tool Dia is and length of cut. I am running BobCAD and awaiting on there tech support team to get me an answer back on weightier they can do it of not. I just thought I would put a post on here and see what everyone on here thought about it.

I understand BobCAD has a helix feature but not a tapered helix.

Are you needing a path for a single or a multi point cutter?
