| Hello I'm new to the graphic work end of metal work and I am looking for suggestions on where to start. I generally receive images, could be .jpg, .bmp, .gif, etc. What application (software) would be best for working with these types of images for creating .dxf files to have laser cut? I have Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop if either of them work well. Also, any sites or books that you may recommend that will assist me with learning the procedures for the software would be of huge help as well. If I'm in the wrong area please let me know. Best regards, David L. |

| You'll need a raster to vector conversion program. You can get a free one at http://www.wintopo.com/

| if you can spend about $200 try Corel Graphic X3 suite. I use it without to many issue for conversion. In Corel draw you can save as DXF or DWG. But with any raise to vector software some cad clean-up is needed |
