How to convert DWG to CATIA

Does somebody know how to convert a DWG to be used to make a part. When I import a dwg it opens in drafting and it's useless because I can't get the profiles in part design to use them.

try saving it as a dxf instead of a .DWG and import the dxf

It opens DXF's in drafting but I want to be able to use the profiles to do an extrusion ( a gear).

Can you copy and paste from drafting? That's how ALibre does it.

Thanks for the help but the drawind contains about 20 gears, would be able to extrude them? I don't want to ask you something that will take too much time. You could extrude them in one object?

send a zip file to mikelakeside@comcast.net and what every size you need it not that much we spent more time in this thread than the extrusion will take

did you recive first group ok I'll have to some little cad but no big deal

The first group open fine for our friend CNC Boy that’s why I went with Bobcad because you don't need more than one software to draw in and another to do cad in with version 21 out Bobcad version 19 can be had for little money now and for you dIY people for what you get it beats any other package for the price hand down yes Bobcad may not have the best rep. but look what you get for the cost
