How to convert DWG to CATIA

Hi,

This is something I do in Catia often.

1. Open the .dwg or .dxf with Catia, it should open in the drafting workbench
2. Drag a box around the profile you want and do edit / copy
3. Go file / new / part
4. Click the sketch Icon and select a plane.
5. Go Edit / Paste

You should now see the profile in part design.

6. Do a Tools / Sketch Analysis and make sure the geometry says closed.

7. Exit workbench and you should now be able to make a pad.
