Hi everybody, I am looking for some assistance from all you people who favour different CAD packages to run you CNC equipment. In a previous post I mentioned that my interest is ‘Servo motor control’ but I get the impression that most Software used and discussed here outputs step/direction Information for stepper controlled systems. The control I have developed will read ‘G’ code and ASCII Lists and I am working on a DXF file reader so I can link to Some of the CAD packages I read about on this board. I am Including a link http://freespace.virgin.net/mmj.potter to a Sample program from my controller. This program generates A helical volute toolpath. I am hoping that those of you who have experience with different CAD packages will draw the toolpath and email me a copy of the DXF file so that I can compare the results generated by my converter. I hope that is fairly clear!! If who have any queries contact me at mmj.potter@virgin.net Have fun Mike P.

| Just to clear your thoughts about servo control using step and direction. It can be done by using a Gecko G320/G340 servo drive. It accepts step and direction control.

Thanks Jeff I understand the Gecko drive system and I think it's great for converting stepper outputs to servo motor control. My controller outputs are the same as the Gecko drives and also performs the same PID servo control alogrithms . What I don't have is a clever graphics front end. Thanks again for your reply all information gratefully received. Regards Mike
