Turbocad Prof. 11 & Mach3 & CAM ???

Hi,

i will buy Mach3 and i have bought Turbocad Prof. 11 and a Maho MH 400P - see following:



I would like to have changes - from linear path control to CNC path control with the UHU project (http://cnczone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14217)

now my question

Which Cam system would be good for 2,5D and 3D ? Upper limit Invest = 1.500 - It should work very well with Turbocad and Mach 3

I look for a payable 3D with 2,5D Function CAM solution - Upper limit Invest = 1.500 - It should work very well with Turbocad and Mach 2/3

Who has another idea for me

DeskProto doesn't do 2.5D. It's basically 3D only, but I see that they added a simple 2D contour.

How about a combination of MeshCAM and SheetCAM. www.meshcam.com

If you have $1500 to spend, check out Visual Mill Basic, www.mecsoft.com or OneCNC, www.onecnc.com



I originally mentioned SheetCAM as an alternative to TurboCADCAM. I believe they are comparable, but neither has 3D functions, I don't think.

I think Ger has it right, Sheetcam for the flat parts and Meshcam for the 3D parts. I am using Tubocad Pro v 11.1 and it plays well with these. The Turbocadcam solution is a problem with Mach 2/3 posting.

Bobcad has both 2.5D and 3D. Personnally I think it is great and even though it lists for $1000 we have never paid more than $450 including Bobart (vectorized machining) and 14 month tech support with 2 seat license.

However I was told OneCNC was perfect and blah,blah,blah. I don't know about you but I have never seen perfect and if someone tells me that I think they are telling a lie. It does have better graphic features but I think the price may also be in you range.

DeskCNC will process either 2D DXF from Turbocad, or 3D .STL surfaces from Turbocad. It can then generate either 3D surface machining or 2D pocketing, contouring and drilling programs( as well as several other kinds of cutting functions).

For $1500 I have the perfect solution for you. Go to Novedge and purchase Rhinoceros cad and Rhinocam basic. This will cost under $1500. Rhino is WITHOUT A DOUBT the BEST cad program for the money that you will EVER find. In my opinion it is the cats meow!!! As far as Rhinocam goes - I only have a demo of it but, it looks very impressive and very much intuitive. I own OneCnc XR and it is a great program - I can look you in the eye and tell you that because I use it all the time in a MANUFACTURING ENVIRONMENT. To be very honest I am sick and tired of people trying to push FREE SOFTWARE and telling people that is all they need. B.S. !!! I say. I have looked over these programs and, well, all I can say is they can stay free! It looks like you are going to be making some real parts so get some real software. Making good - great software is a difficult and fulltime job that requires VERY smart and SKILLED people who ( I imagine) like to collect a weekly paycheck just like anyone else. I know that when an average person (like myself) looks at a CD it doesnt seem like much of anything. But, if you investigate further you will find out that there is a TON of work that goes into making a FUNCTIONAL cad/cam program that is on that CD.- O.k. enough of my 2 cents :O).
All kidding aside check out Rhinoceros cad and Rhinocam basic.....
