Have you tried the lathe functions with GibbsCam? Did you find they were inadequate?
We are a small company (8 folks) and are looking to purchase CAM software to program a Citizen and a Hanwha Swiss machine as well as VMC's. Our emphasis is on the programming the Swiss machines, including a small amount of surfacing on these, but we wish to also program 2-1/2 axis parts as well as surfacing on the VMC's. We currently have 2-1/2 axis Gibbs for the verticals. Since our main concern is expediting programming on the Swiss, we are considering and have had demos on both Partmaker and Esprit. Does anyone have input on this?
Thanks!

We don't have Gibbs for turning. We have not seriously considered Gibbs for Swiss since their name doesn't seem to come up very often when CAM for Swiss.
Before you write them off, I would contact your distributor and get more information on price and such. I have found, when possible, it is better to have all machines on one CAM package. Of course, that is just my opinion.

I was thinking about getting a Swiss and checked into Gibbs. That is what we use on our other machines. It looks to me like they have a strong MTM module, and there are a number of happy swiss user out there with it. If you are using Gibbs now I would be very hesitant to have two different systems in the shop.
for swiss style I have not seen better than Partmaker, the Mill section is ok
I use Esprit,,, It's awesome,,, I use it to program the Citizen L20, L32, M16 & M32... It works great for 3D milling, angle holes & anything I throw at it...
