G Code Generator for older CNC mill

    Hello everyone.

I just got an older CNC (Picking up in a couple of weeks after some training). I will be trained on how to program the mill by punching in the g code (like on my cnc lathe). I'm sure that will be great for most jobs that I will do. However, I would like to use the mill to engrave the company logo into aluminum diamond plate. That I think will take me hours/days to program.

My question: Can I use a g code generator to create the file from solidworks on such an old machine (20-25 years old)?

Any and all help is appreciated, Thanks!

It depends on what G code format it conforms to, If it follows standard Fanuc/ Mitsubishi type commands, then you could use that post-processor in your CAM program.
Most CAD/CAM programs have the option of different post-processor formats.
