    font engraving

Hey I run a busellato jet 4002xl. it runs genesis but cant think of version right now. I got a program off internet called desk engrave and loaded it on my machine. it will take any font installed in the computer and make a program that runs around the outline of the letters. if your letters have holes in the center like an O it will go around the outside and inside making 2 lines. also if you dont select a font it will make stick letters. It outputs the file in DXF format and you can use the autolink dxf option from the menu in your program editor that you should have with genesis. thats what i do anyways. good luck

Thanks for the reply i have downloaded the software and it has worked fine, the only problem i have with it is that after importing it to genesis it has the best part of 2000 lines and no tool assigned. Is there an easier way of inputting tool number without doing them 1 by 1 cheers.

    desk engrave

glad it worked. when I use it to make signs and stuff it also comes up with high numbers of lines of code. you can change it to make more lines (more precise) or less lines (more blocky letters) in the options. but anyway, all you should have to do to put tools in is tell it what tool to use at each setmill not every line. at least thats what i do on my machine. i start a line with a setmill and add as many linear millings as i want. it uses the same tool untill i put in another setmill to start a new line. hope this helps

ok cheers so i can make it less lines still quite alot though, the problem is on all of the curves it puts hundreds of set points so still have to input tool on most lines. I guess this is not a massive problem though just takes a bit of time, at least i can now machine text cheers again.

that's weird. your machine must convert it different than mine. when I use the program it makes one setmill for the outside of the letter and one set point for the inside of the letter. Mine also come up with a hunderd lines or so for each letter but only a few setmills. well good luck any way.
