Mastercam is one option?
We currently have 3 Hurco VMC's that we would like to do off-line programing on and have the ability to send the program to either of the machines. What type of system could anyone recomend to achieve this? Also, we will need to know what type of CAM software woud be sufficient to work in conjunction with Solid Works to create programs.
Thanks in advance

Mastercam is one option?

We run the BMC30, VMX30, Hawk and K3 Knee Mill using the Hurco BNC dialect with esprit2010. esprit is way too much power for the 2 1/2D milling jobs we do. And Bob-CAM v21 would have done fine for 1/10 the price. Any CAM that will make your parts will feed the Hurcos fine.
I did make a program was too big for the knee mill's memory so the mill automaticly went into drip feed mode. Very Nice.
Look at, at least three CAM packages before you buy and look at the one you want last.
Do not let the CAM people show you their demos. Have them make your part and post it so you can see the code. Create a tool, edit a tool, edit the feeds/speeds/DOC. Have the guy earn his pay. If they complain, tell them to leave and call the next CAM guy. You are not just buying software but a corporate culture of support as well. An if they won't support your needs to get your money, they won't support your needs after the check clears.
Even if they don't have a post for a Hurco but a generic FANUC, make them show you the complete process from drawing/dxf to editing the CAM to creating the G-Code file so you not only get a feel for the process but see that it does what you want.
You should not have to edit the g-code program by hand. Or put another way, you should not have to edit the g-code program by hand, ever.
Watch your fingers....
Mastercam X5 for Solidwork(since you had mention it).
The best way to learn is trial error.
