CAMSHAFT MILLING USING 4 AXIS MACHINE

Hello and welcome to my 1st post !

I'm building a small desktop milling machine and ultimately want to use it for ( amongst other things ), milling camshafts for model petrol engines.

Is there a dedicated set of software for canshaft milling or alternatively what software should I be using ( preferably free or fairly cheap ) to generate the code for this ?

I'll be using Mach 3 to drive the mill, and it will have a fourth axis ( dividing head or rotary table ), and also anticipate using Meshcam for 3D stuff.

I can generate DXF file of the shafts via my CAD programme easily ( Design Cad v13 ), and I guess would use this to feed into any code generating software ( or am I wrong ? ).

    Any help much appreciated.

    Nick.

He had lots to say about that particular topic, and you aren't going to like it Unfortunately, he is no longer with us.
First you get good, then you get fast. Then grouchiness sets in.
