Dolphin has a post processor (mx3 pro) that allows me generate Conversational code from their CAM system to have some control of my "Z" Axis on an Protrak Edge 3 control. It always has to move the z by itself and then x & y can move. As the post is titled "MX3_Pro" I would tend to believe the software is intended for an MX3 control, not an edge control....but it does work. Dolphines' canned cycles are pretty good, but I'd like to find CAD/CAM software and appropriate postprocessor that would do more complex cuts, like waterline (constant z level) roughing and finishing. The edges' memory is to small and can't drip feed or DNC without substantial additional cost, and it will never be able to move z while moving x and/or y, so there are limitations... regards, Ken  |
