    Engraving on CNC mill.

Hi im new to this forum so hello to you all!! I was wondering if anyone knows of any free software avalible to generate fanuc code for a conventional milling machine i use in work. Recently a good work friend of mine died in a motorbike accident and ive offered to make a memorial plaque for him out of some brass plate and i want something with fancy letters, not stencil type.
If anyone can help id really appriecate it. Also im doing this project privately so although the company are letting me use the machine and materials they wont pay for expensive copies of edgecam or other CAD/CAM programs.
If anyone here has something i could use i could always email the text i want in return for a few beer tokens?
    Cheers

Then just sketch out what you want and have someone here generate the program for you and then you are done.

This is roughly what i want....The brass billet is 250mm x 140mm and the font size i used on autocad was 20, the text was "palatino linotype" but my version of autocad has limited options...

I am happy programming and using macros if thats an option when generating a program....What tooling would be required i have done little engraving work before i was thinking a ballnose or maybe just a standard 90degree spot drill or similar?

Try the attached file to see if it's something like what you're after.
You'd need a 90deg conical cutter with a 0.2mm flat tip for it to cut correctly as it's a V-Carve type of toolpath.

    I did it with Ucancam.
Do check the feeds and spindle speed before you use it in earnest because I've left everything at its default setting and I've found some of these to be a little optimistic. Also note that the maximum cut depth is ~ 2.25mm so you might need to take things steady.
