.dxf file getting changed in trumpf software!! Help! Please! will pay anything!

    Hello!

I have no idea what is happening but I have a .dxf file that was created as polyline entities and when I send my file to a local cnc laser cutter who is using a Trumpf TruLaser 2030 laser cutter his software is interrpreting the file in a way that creates deviations from the original design. I am hoping that someone here has an idea of what might cause this and how to fix it. I know that the laser cutter is in contact with the manufacturer of his machine and the accompanying software, but so far (about a month) I haven't heard anything back and I fear that I am a low priority and perhaps not worth the effort to troubleshoot.

I have attached a before and after picture of a zoomed in portion of the drawing. Any help would be appreciated!

Instead of polylines, how about outputting it as line/arc segments?

Hi, thank you for the response. I should have mentioned that I've tried lines and arcs also...

Does your cutter have this problem with other files from you or from other sources? What CAD software are you using? How does your cutter generate his DXF files? This really seems like a software problem on his end. But without more information it will be difficult to think of a work around.

1- What other format the trumpf software takes...
2- You can try DXF outpt in ACAD 2000 version etc and check..This is because most software still do not support AutoCAD 2010/11 DXF ..

    For additional information:

Although AutoDesk established DXF, originally introduced in December 1982, they are the ones that continued to introduce changes and not follow their own standard. AutoDesk continues to make changes in an attempt to keep its files proprietary to its software.

The IGES project was started in 1979 by a group of CAD users and vendors, including Boeing, General Electric, Xerox, Computervision and Applicon, with the support of the National Bureau of Standards (now known as NIST) and the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD). IGES seems to be more reliable and more consistent (across platforms that support it).

If you can post the dxf files here, then we can check how they load into our software.

The problem lies with the Trumpf conversion software.

Trumpf converts DXF to GEO for use on its machines. There are various settings in Trumpf's "Tops" conversion software. I don't recall all the variables but some include interpolated B-spline, approximate B-spline, output polygon (all with distance and min. length variables. Then there is the ability to "smooth" (none, coarse, medium, fine).

As them adjust their variables (usually finer) to approx the curve better.

Another method you can try is to create the dxf using splines instead of polylines and see if that works.
