ok ive built a cnc from scratch its a 3 axis and i'm using some cheap stepper motors and a chinese controller to.... well control it. it works quite well really, i'm having a problem with the whole drawing stuff for the machine to cut jobbie. basically i'd like to do some photos for the family, ive worked out how to turn them into a height map but i cant seem to get the damn thing to change that into something that resembles g-code. can someone please hold my hand and walk me through this as i feel like i'm banging my head against a wall here. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance kaighn.

Buy Photo V Carve from Vectric. Far simpler than doing anything in AlphaCAM.

I can have a crack at helping out.
PM me so we can discuss what you are thinking of doing and how detailed you want to be.
I program and run a Komo 510 Machextream with AlphaCAM R2.
What version of Alpha are you using?
Your post processor is likely the problem though, as if its not set up right for your controller ACAM won't produce the right G-code.
Have you got your machine doing basic 2D operations ok?
If you are using Mach 3 with out a license you will be limited to 500 lines.
If you need a Alphacam post for Mach 3 I have few to choose from.
The one you use is going to depend on how you have your machine setup.
Let me know if I can help. :-)
i've got the machine doing 3d work in xyz but without the license i have to bust each thing into 500 line segments then load and run each one in turn which is a pita so yeah need license asap.
i work in alphacam 2010, on a 5-axis machine. unfortunatelly, i never worked with what you need, but can offer any help with 5-axis machining
