small business insurance

any recommendations of who to go to for small business insurance? i am looking at hiring an employee and i need to get this covered for him. when working myself i didn't worry about it but now i don't want to get sued or end up apying someone who can't work.

also in terms of liability insurance, i need to get this to. please let me know what to look for and who your going with.

I would say first check with the Burea of workers compensation. Then talk to your insurance company. If they do'nt handle what you need, they can most likely direct you to someone who can help. Then talk to a business attorney. I looked into insurance for a product I was producing, and found out that insurance is pretty steep for not much coverage. Some people say setup a different business as a corp. and hope it doesn't get sued. I'm not sure , but I would definetly say do your homework before you jump. My product didn't take off, so I avoided the need to further my search. I hope something here helps! Good Luck

We have a local agent from American Family. They offer a complete line of small business insurance coverage. We have insurance on our shop including our CNC and other equipment, our back hoe, workers comp, key man insurance (like life insurance for a small business it insures that our contracts could be completed by a 3rd party if I die or am disabled so my family has fewer worries), and general liabilty. We lloked around and have looked since and they have competive rates and packages. Our local agent is good to answer questions and is very informative. He has actually suggested changing things a bit at one point in order to save us money. I have another friend who is very happy with West Bend Mutual of Wisconsin. Best of luck with your business.
