    What to charge??

    Hey Guys
I have a small part time machine shop in my home garage located in New England. I have a CNC bridgeport, manual lathe, surface grinder, welders and the misc shop stuff.I mainly machine prototype and custom parts. I'm trying to decide if I should try and come up with a houly shop rate or just charge per part. Thanks for any information

    Mike

Calculate your overhead...Rent/Heat/Electric/ Cutting tools etc and then guess what You want to make per hour ($15 an hour/ $20, etc) Than add them up and multiply them by the time you estimate for the job... Then you have a quote you can submit to the customer and don't forget to include delivery lead time.

    Thanks

Get what the market will pay. Based on your equipment and the skill needed to run them, you should get at least $30.00 per hour.
