Information required to ask for a quote?

Hi all, first post here so be gentle!

I want to get a quote on some work but before I can ask for one I need some information on waht is required:

At the moment i Sketchup plans for the parts for a model building that take up, roughly two A3 sheets in surface area.
Should the parts be left as individual parts (for the CNC person to arrange) or should I try to frame them into a sheet?
If i should be putting them on a frame what spaces do i leave between parts?
What is the best format for the images - .dxf .jpg.. Sketchup-Pro is capable of quite a few file formats.... is the 3D dimensionality of them of any use or hinderence? Should they be flattened into 2D images?

I think that's all my questions, replies and any advice on additional information needed for posting a RFQ appreciated.

I would think that 2D dxf or dwg for importing into a CAM system to allow entry to the quoter's machine
A 3D image could be included for illustration purposes, usually the successful quoter will have the necessary software for nesting etc and be aware of required spacing.

When wanting a quote from someone a PDF file is the best to post, & everyone can open it, you then send what ever format drawing to the shop that is going to make your parts

dumb question probably .. but.. does the pdf need to ahve the dimensions on every part... or is it purely to get a handle on the shapes ?

Dimensions are critical and tolerances on the dimensions too.

You're from the UK, be aware that Americans will assume inches and us brits will assume mm so specify it in black and white...

1+/-0.1 could mean anything from Acres to Angstroms.

[Edit]Sorry what I meant was it'll be cheaper with lose tolerances than tight ones. The amount of jobs I've done where I've spend time (money) hitting a particular tolerance only for the customer to later say "Oh we didn't really need it +/-0.005mm".[/Edit]
