Where are the people interested in this? Are we the only few wanting to multi task with our mills or small machines? I know I do.

Have been in contact with Nuri also. I have a Taig cnc mill and a New Hermes 7200 Vanguard. Would like to do both. This will save me a bunch of money and not add a 3d printer to my home.

kinda wish I had seen this sooner, just finished putting a thing-o-matic together, oh well.

Might still do this to my cnc mini mill, would let me print some larger items

How is the thing-o-matic working? Did you have any experience with a 3D printer, any unexpected issues during start up?

Started working on this a couple of weeks ago. Should be a fun project once its all said and done...

The main stepstruder body is now assembled. Thermocouple installed. Now all thats left is to make a mount for my Z axis drive...

Got the electronics for the heater working last last week. Parameters were set and everything worked great so far

The temperature at the hot end is measured and stabilized to around 260° C. - [500° F]
The soldering iron worked as expected and easily got the hot end up to the required 500° F...

Currently working on the build platform which must be heated to a temperature of around 120° C. - [248° F]

Last night I made some headway on the heater control box build.

Today I finished wiring it up again re-testing it. The lower guage is reading the the soldering iron temp as it makes its way to the set 500° F. The second temp probe (top guage) is for reading the build platform. I currently have this temp probe situated at the base of the stepper motor to get an idea on how hot the area of base mount is getting.

It's working well, no 3d printer experience, the biggest hassle so far is trying to figure things out, most of the answers are out there but they're strewn all over the place.

Using ReplicatorG as the control software and skeinforge to generate the gcode.

using what some call "volumetric 5d" (poorly named) and it really is the way to go, simplifies a lot of the things need to to get a decent print.

here's a whistle I printed this weekend, white ABS at .25mm layer thickness

Hi to all I am here

I am very happy to announce that the new board and a new web page has been released. Converting a CNC Machine to a 3D Printer
This page is full of information to help people who have their own desktop CNC machine and wish to use it as a 3D printer.
An other new development is a mach3 add-on which will allow you to run Skeinforge (the modified one) inside mach3. You will use mach3 software both for slicing the STL file and printing directly.
The controller board will isolate the temperature controlling functions from motor control functions. This will help us to setup a 3d printer in a modular and easy way. I hope you will enjoy the idea. Please post your photos and videos about your setup.

    Regards,
    Nuri Erginer

I ordered my Makers Gear plastruder and one of your control boards today. One of the things I can't figure out is the speed. My Gcode has very high feed rates in the 7980 range which is 325 ipm. my mach3 is setup in inches and the g21 tells it to work in MM do I need to make a XML file for a MM machine and change my steppes per to stepes per MM.
    Thanks

    speed and mach3 setup

I am not familiar with inches but both mm and inches can be used. The important thing is the skeinforge settings for speed. After installing the mach3 add-on and run it you will see that skeinforge will pops up. You can change the settings and save and close. The next time you run the add-on you will get outputs with new settings. I will be very happy to publish your skeinforge profiles at Converting a CNC Machine to a 3D Printer

Where are you located, I ordered your temperature control board and haven't received it yet or tracking info.
    Thanks
