Benny,
This is a fun thread! I simply love the pterodactyl-I have to agree with Javadog: it looks like a money maker. Keep up the good work.

Well you would know. That ROV has really inspired a great following, not to mention the epic piece of cinematography work you have done.Yeah, it is nice when people appreciate the things we make, innit?
That sounds like a fabulous idea. Please make sure you submit a picture of the finished item once you have made it.so that I can cut them out of alum on my cnc mill.

I cut out all of the pieces of the shark on my mill last night from .125 alum plate and it looks good. I think that with just a little bit of finishing the parts will go together pretty well. I will post some pictures of it when it is done. I think it would look really neat with some of the pieces anodized and maybee someday I will try that. It wold also probably look great cut from acrilic or any other metal like copper or brass. Thanks again to whoever took all of the time to create the dxf drawings.
BTW if anyone is wondering harborfrieght hasa bunch of these kits in thier stores..might be worth a shot to take and scan them ;-)
ynneb,
Would you mind sharing your drawing for the Terradactyl? How thick was the plywood you used for it?
Thanks,
Carl
All the drawings I used are alraedy posted on this thread. The terradactyl was one of the fonts that Whiteriver uploaded. The good thing was I just typed the font to the size I wanted it to be.ynneb,

I used 10mm mdf as my material.
Obviuosly you will need to edit the DXF to suit the material thinkness and bit size you are using.
Oh. Ok. I forgot all about those. HEHE
How long did it take to machine and what feed date did you use?
30 mins for the tera... 2 passes......cant remember the feedrate. I think it was 100mm per second.
40 mins for the raptor.
How do you use the "fonts"? I am not familiar with that format.
Thanks,
Download the fonts and install them into your Windows font folder. How do you use the "fonts"? I am not familiar with that format.
Then open your CAD program and insert text. Male sure you select the Dono font as your text. You will then see a skeleton. You can upsize or downsize it to what ever suits. You will need to edit the slots to suit your material thickness and your router bit of choice.
Cool. Thanks ynneb.
I'm about to try and upload a Triceratops and a Spinosaurus to the Downloads section. Both files are BMP's for general use. There are two files for each dino.

Ummm . . . Guilty as charged.
Make them JPG files or Gif files.I'm about to try and upload a Triceratops and a Spinosaurus to the Downloads section. Both files are BMP's for general use. There are two files for each dino.
BMPS are unnecesarily large in file size.
Use the free program Irfanview to convert them.
Put them in the Photo gallery instead of the downloads section.
Thanks
Thanks Benny, I just found that out when 'the Zone' spat the dummy and didn't accept the files. I'm working on them at present, cleaning them up & converting them to DXF, so I'll upload them then. They may be of more use to more people that way.

From Wagner's post (#17):
Here's the .CDR (CorelDraw) file converted to .DXF for the "Woody" Mammoth. Click on the above link for the original file and/or to see the assembled model. I'm still working on my JGRO build and am not to the point where I can butcher any wood (yet!). Maybe someone else can give it a go and post pictures of the assembled beast. I'm thinkin', that maybe, Ynneb's raptor needs a playmate.
Im reviving this tread, and as soon as I go back to work in the new year im cutting out that teryldactle in clear lexan, I will post when im done.
Here's a link to some more objects you mighy have missed.
