Default Best Bit for the Job?

I'm going to be using a table mounted router to cut out many curved patterns from square 1/2" plywood.

I plan on creating a pattern and rigging up a tall bearing for it to follow. I'm having trouble finding a good bit for this job, I don't know if a straight flute will cut directly through wood at a fast pace.

Is there a dremel style bit that might work?

    Any suggestions?

If you don't need a bit with a bearing, try a spiral chipbreaker. Should be able to cut plenty fast enough, although they are a bit pricey.

    Hi Gerry,

Thanks for your advice! Those bits look like they will do a good job. Do you happen to know how fast they could cut through 1/2 maple ply? I've never done a direct straight cut with a router.

As fast as you could feed them. Over 500ipm on a CNC.
