    Default Practice Cuts in Foam

    Folks,
I have read about people using foam to test G-Code files before cutting an actual part.

Does anyone have any suggestions about the specifics of this? What is the best kind of foam to cut on a CNC router? Where can it be purchased?

    Thanks for any help,

    Paul,

I have been using the Pink foam you can buy in sheets at Home Depot. Not all stores have it but my local one here have 2" thick sheets. Some only have the 1/2" sheets or maybe they are 5/8".

It cuts very clean and is stiff enough that you can clamp it.

    I used "Dow foam" that I got at a local insulation supplier. It was like $25 for a 2ft x 8ft x 3inch sheet

    Todd, Steen,
Thanks to you both for the help. My local Home depot only sells the thin stuff, but I'll make some phone calls.
I appreciate the suggestions very much.
    Paul
