    Default looping the movement

    Hello Everyone,
I need make drive going to one direction up to certain point. as soon it reaches that point I need it go in opposite direction with the same speed it had before.
so, basically, as I see it, as soon it reaches the point the polarity needs to be changed, so, stepper motor would do the same just in opposite direction.
Perhaps someone could suggest something else?

Could anyone please suggest the way to implement it?

    Thank you in advance!

The simple and cheap way to do that without a computer is to use a stepper controller something like this

1 Single Axis CNC Servo Stepper Motor Motion Programmable Controller ST-PMC1 | eBay

If the distance is always fixed, an air cylinder might work also if the distance is not too far. I little more information about the application would help us to help you.

    thank you, Jim!
looking at this, my understanding this controller won't be able to change the direction, so, I will need to add into circuit a polarity switch. Am I wrong or not?

    thank you.

The controller I referenced above can be programmed to run one direction for a set number of steps, then reverse and return to the start point. It can also programmed to hit a limit switch and reverse. No reversing circuitry required.

    Hey Jim,
I got this chinese 1 axis motion controller, DQ860MA driver (wantaimotor) and nema 34 motor ( wantaimotor, 85BYGH450D-008). the manual for 1 axis controller is in chinglish. there is no connection diagram. I've been searching for several days - no luck.
I checked out wantaimotors website.... every page loads for several minutes... and on their website they are stating that this motor has 8 wires... I am staring at mine... and I count only 4 wires... oh, boy...

Have you, by any chance, dealt with this stuff? can you, please, help on how to connect all these pieces together?
Anyone, please! can you help me to connect all these three pieces together?

I think this is the wiring diagram for the motor

    And the drive

I think the controller came with a CD, don't remember.

If you need more help, I can dive into it a bit. I just wired things up and got it running long enough to test to make sure it worked. I have it all sitting in a box on my bench now.

    Thank you so much, Jim!
so... do I need to add three resistors? (according to this diagram).
and, yes, controller does include mini CD... and it contains one file - manual of controller in chinglish. no connection diagram of any kind.

also, Jim, as I understand it: from motor driver pul (-) and dir (-) go to gnd on the motion controller - is that sound correct?

No resistors needed. The signal from the controller is already buffered.

Yes, connect - to - You should be able to move the motor by jogging, that will tell you that everything is connected properly. I can't really help too much with the programming, I've only skimmed the manual.

    Hi Jim and All.
latest news - after several days of communication efforts, I was able to obtain from Sainsmart wiring diagram for 1 Axis Programmable Controller.
I am posting it here, as I suspect, I am not only the one, who was trying to decrypt chinglish of the manual of it and attempted to wire the pieces together without luck.
