Down the rabbit hole I go.
Hello all. My name is Dave. I repair and build guitar amplifiers. I am currently looking at the Laguna Swift 4x4 vacuum cnc. My goals are to design and build 1x12 and 2x12 guitar speaker cabinets at first to generate revenue and as I learn, build guitars etc. Being able to build cabinets for the amps I build will be really nice.
I am a beginner to the cnc world. I have some wood working experience (I did hardwood floors and tile for 25 years).
What do you think of the Laguna machines?
What cad/cam software should I choose?
I have a few friends into cnc and will be luring them over with the machine to help.
Budget is 20k or less.
Any help or pointers would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Re: Down the rabbit hole I go.
Hello, Dave
there is much advice here from all of the members old timers and new timers.
With your past experience this transition should be easy.
CNC is the trend in woodworking.
I have helped many transition from Templates and
hand held screaming routers to push the button and get parts.
Especially the carved tops, from 12-15 hours to 1 hour with digital repeat-ability.
Before you get any machine, get some hands dirty in generating Gcode and learning about machines in general. For starters there are many idle machines available rent, no need to buy until the workload warrants purchase. Take your data to different shops and see how it is done many different ways.
The CAD data is the template which any CNC shop can make parts to.
PM Me and i can show you my AMP cabinet. for plexi's
