Default Don't know where to post this... Vacuum pump running in reverse.

    Hi everyone,

I had a electrician hookup everything at my shop and came to find out the vacuum pump (Siemens EN 600034 3-motor IP 55) is running in reverse. I cannot get a hold of the electrician (He's in another state I hear) and need to get this working. I attached some pictures of the wiring becuase I believe that I just need to switch 2 wires to have the vacuum pump work correctly.

Any suggestions and assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you and God bless,
    Craig

Switch the two black wires around, it should work.

Deleted - I was assuming it was single phase, but given the contactors in the second photo, that may be wrong.

    Cheers

It is not clear whether this is a 3-phase motor or a single phase motor. If it is 3-phase, then reversing TWO of the phases (the ones with big yellow crimp lugs) should work.
But do NOT move the green wire: that is safety earth!

You're right. Looking again, it looks like single phase, and I now see that the green is the ground.
Every time I look at the pic, I see a little bit more.

Photo 1: incoming wires are green (earth), red, white and black. That is typical 3-phase colours.
The wiring and hardware in photo 2 is a bit strange, but you don't get contactors like that for single phase.
Photo 3 has a label on the motor housing which states '3 phase'.

I'll bow out of this discussion, as I didn't see the black wire either.

The white wire with black tape around it is designated as black by the tape. The red wire might be the wild leg depending on how the building distribution is wired, thus best to leave it. Just exchange the 2 black wires at the contactor. One of the blacks being the white with the black tape.

First of all, Thank you for all the responses and guidance.

Should I switch the black wire within the box on the motor (connected to the vacuum) or within the panel box? Also, I believe you mean the two wires coming into the box from the source.

    Thank you and God bless,
    Craig

Switch the two black wires (one is originally white) with the big yellow crimp-on lugs in photo 1. They are on the top bar and bottom bar in photo 1. Just undo the nuts and swap the wires/lugs. It is really very simple.

    Cheers
