    Default Installing Mach 4

Hello everyone. My name is Allan. I have been a tree worker for 41 years and have run my own Tree service company. I have wanted to make tables out of the largest trees we cut. So I began to copy the router bed design of a friend who runs a company called City Bench. He sugested that I talk with the man who built his router bed before I do. He showed me how he would design along the lines of a CNC machine. I have welded up a 16'x7' table base and designed and built a three axis CNC wood router bed, all metal, with linear rails, motors and controols from "Build your CNC.com". So I have eagerly jumped into the interesting world of CNC. I am frustrated at this point because I have purchased CAM software called Mach4 from Newfangled Solutions and I can't get it to communicate with the USB controller board. The mechanical part is done but I need help understanding the initialization of the software. I would like to connect with someone who has just made this journey or knows how to navigate through this. I live in Central Connecticut, USA.

Did you buy this board? https://www.buildyourcnc.com/item/el...ach3-USB-Board

If do, it won't work with Mach4. You need a motion controller that supports Mach4, and has a Mach4 plugin.

PMDX sells 5 different ones. PMDX.COM - Products for CNC and motion control applications

And Mach4 is a CNC Control program, not a CAM program.

I learned that Mach 4 does not work with this board. Called "Build Your CNC" and they sent me Mach 3. So I have a motion board and software that works with it but the process is complicated and I am overwhelmed. I successfully downloaded the rnrMotion controller file into the Mach 3 plug in folder but having trouble with the next step.... installing the XML Mach 3 cinfig file.
