You may have to jumper the hardware handshake out, on the 25 pin D end it is 4-5, and 6-8-20.

Hello all.
I have just bought an older YAM MV 3A (YANG) with a FANUC 0M controller. It´s the last of 3 0M models (Machine is from 1993)
I need a cable to connect from the RS 232 port to my USB on my labtop. Does anybody have one for sale or know where to by one.
If not, does anybody have the schematics for making a cable?
Thanks in advance :-)
Kind Regards Martin

Use ftdi converter the one above may or may not work depending pn how lucky You are.
I have now recived the cable, and i am trying to set it up.
I tried some diffrent DNC softwares, and changed some parameters, but now it seems like i can´t punch in the "O" anymore, it´s Punching "7" . Could i have change a parameter, thats enables this?
Hi there,
We seem to have similar machines!
Did you figure out the punching7 problem yet?
I'm looking for a cable to hook up a computer too, as punching in programs at eyelevel strains my arms in the cold workshop....
Ordering this Mitsubishi cable: https://nl.rs-online.com/web/p/usb-c...blies/0272860/
RS seems to have their own brand but I don't get a "well that'll work" kind of vibe from it. Mainly from the description.
They used to have the FTDI one mentioned earlier as well, but that's out of stock and probably won't be on the shelf again from the looks of it.
I'm not sure if I need to jumper the cables on the PC side yet. I'm pretty sure I'll have to get a 9-25 pin cable and jumper the 6-8-20 pins. If anybody knows for sure, chime in please! I'll keep you posted.
Hi All.
The problem was that the cable from the controller to the cabinet with alle the drive was disconnected.
I got it to work, but i cut the RS232 cable so it´s only 0,8 meter, because off too much interference, wich resulted in errros messages and the machine stopping randomly.
I have now hooked a tablet up to it, which sync´s i dropbox, so when i make the CAM code from HSM(Solidworks) it´s straight on to the tablet, that is working as a "punching tape station" via a little program i bought
it work flawless :-)

Hooking up a tablet with dropbox sounds amazing, can you elaborate a bit on how you did that? Also, what program did you buy?
And is there a way to check if my controller accepts a null-modem cable or a full-handshake, and is drip-feeding a possibility?
I´ll make a video and put i on youtube and i´ll make a link to it here... but there will properly go a couple of days, before i have the time for it.
