Default Need Help with Drivers and Mach3

I have two problems. 1) My "Z" motor sounds like it is turning but it does not move. 2) On the side of the driver is a list of Steps per Rev that you can use with the DIP switches.. My question is how do I know which one to pick from the list. My motor 200 Steps per Rev with a 1.8 pitch Lead Screw.

    1) Have you checked the coupler that connects the motor shaft to the leadscrew? There might be a loose setscrew or something.

    2) You can choose any microstep setting you want. Just be sure to multiply your steps/unit number by that figure. So if you choose 10 microsteps, then it's 200 x 1.8 x 10 = 3600.

After more testing, I found that there is something wrong with the stepper motor. I connected another motor to the driver and it did the same thing. So I ordered another one. Thank you for the insite about the Microstepping. I have read articles and watched so many videos that I was so confused. Now my question is once I figure out the microsteps then I put that number in Mach3 under motor tuning. Is that correct,
