Question Cutting Aluminium 5075 and 6082 - Feed & Depth

    Hi !

I have DIY router made with 12mm (0.472") aluminum plates (middle degree of stiffness for this type of CNC machines) with 1.5kW 8000 - 24000 rpm spindle.
Successfully milled wood, plastic and composites like FR4, + engraved PCBs.
Currently neither oil mist neither air blow systems are installed (can use manually oil lubricant if necessary).
Quality of finishing is not important, these are wheel brackets.

Now I'm need to machine some parts with 8mm (5/16") 6082 aluminum (contour / slot milling + boring).
In the near future going to make parts with 3 - 4mm (1/8" - 5/32") 5075 or 6082 aluminum, with small single flute mill 2mm (1/16").

Currently have these carbide uncoated mills for aluminum (from China).

    1-flute 3.175mm (1/8")
    1-flute 6.0mm (0.236")
    2-flute 4.0mm (5/32")
    3-flute 3.175mm (1/8")
    3-flute 6.0mm (0.236")

What are recommended RPM, feed rate and (very important) cutting depth? Information around is very controversial to say at least.
For example, CNCRouterShop recommends for single flute 3.175mm (1/8") mills 16000 rpm, 500mm/min (19.7"/min) and cutting depth 1.5mm (0.059").
ZCC-CT also recommends cutting depth roughly equal to 1/2 of the mill diameter.
However, on CNCClub forum several users stated that cutting depth should be only 0.2 - 0.5мм 0.008" - 0.2") becuase of sticky chips.

Anyone can share their own personal experience?
Thanks in advance for any help !

ZCC-CT also recommends cutting depth roughly equal to 1/2 of the mill diameter.
Try that on a router and you'll snap the tool pretty quick.

Is the 1 flute tool an "O" flute"?

    I'd use a 6mm "O" flute, 10,000 rpm, 0.5mm depth, 30-60ipm

for Aluminum carving machine it would be better to set 18000r/min spindle speed and 2mm cutting depth

    Tried 3-flute 3.175mm (1/8"), special for aluminum 100% new, cutting 6082.

    18000 rpm, 0.5мм (0.02") depth , 600 mm/min (23.6"/min) - cutter clogged with chips, broke.
18000 rpm, 0.25мм (0.01") depth, 400 mm/min (15.7"/min) - cutter clogged with chips, didn't broke, cut because of friction with horrible screechy sound.

Is that 6082 so low quality, or I need to use lubricant like WD40 or machine oil?
