    Default Aluminum Fihish problems

    Hello,

    I am trying to get a miror finish on some Aluminum ( AlMgSi o.5)

    I ran a 1,5mm Ball nose 10000 rpm feed rate of 150 mm/min

    as you ca see in the attached picture it has anot so cleam finish.

    any sggestion what I should do to get better finish ?

    I can see the tool marks scratching on it sir, I think if you use a single flute bit formed into rounded edges and lower your feed rate, you'll get good results on it it usually happens when the bit itself will get gummed up by the aluminum scrappings and got rubbed the second time on the material itself.

    What was your step-over set to? Using some lubricant, and making sure the swarf is constantly, cleared, with a low step over can make all the difference in the world.

    the step over was 0,2mm (13,3%)

    I will need to find a solution for clearing the stuff away

    Air blast with pulsed oil mist works very well for me.
    Look up 'MQL' on the web.
