Default .5 inch drill for drilling ar400, please help find

Hi guys, I am looking for a drill bit that will drill ar400 steel, I have been using the one pictured, it was in a bunch of tools that I bought in a auction, so do not know where it comes from, and nobody around here sells it..

PTD might be Precision Twist Drill. They're located in Crystal Lake IL., USA. Their drills are sold by most of the major tool suppliers. Could also be a screw machine length Cobalt drill with TiN coating.

+1 one of the best drills around. I use thousands of them over the years.
that looks like a 135º split point cobalt stub ( ie screw machine)

    Ibid on Delw's post.

It's a Precision Twist Drill, uncoated HSS, screw machine length...but looks to me like a 118deg point though. (your monitor may differ)

Great company, I've used their drills and reamers for decades. They've got a wide selection, and offer pretty good support.

    Welcome to PrecisionDormer

Your AR400 has a Brinell of 400, and this stuff is nasty. I'd be curious to see how many holes you can get with that drill. But I'd call tech support if you can't find the equivalent on their website for the right drill for that mat'l.

MSCdirect handles them, along with a host of other mail order outfits.

OK, guys, thanks for your replies, this drill did have a double tip like nothing that I have seen before, and I have drilled over 1800 holes in .5 inch ar400 and only sharpen in last couple hundred, an regular drill bit only lasts like 6 holes,
