Default Best way to slice a disc off of a steel bar

    Hi Folks,
I have a 1-3/4" thick carbon steel bar that I'd like to slice discs off of - about the thickness of coins.
What's the best way to go about that would you say? I have access to a full metal shop but clearly am pretty new to best procedures and practices.
Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Michael

Doing it on a lathe with a cut-off tool would be one way to get nice even disks (assuming you're starting with a round rod and not a square bar). If your carbon steel is hard, you'll need to anneal it first before this will work.

Power hacksaw would be my first choice. The disks can be finished on the lathe to the desired tolerances.
