Went into work last night and had to run a job that was set up. Not long into the part the knurler started acting up. It would make a growling noise and once id look at the part there would be cut marks throughout the knurl from the knurler hopping/stopping. Im not familair with straight knurling but at the old shop i used to work at, we used diamond knurlers alot and always had both wheels close together on the front of the part so you can adjust your X and put more/less pressure on the part. The guy that set the job up put the knurlers almost directly on top and bottom of the part. Also one of the wheels is missing the washer so it is wobbly. Could either of these problems cause the knurler to skip and dig in or is there something else im missing. Ive never knurled aluminum and dont know if there are tricks to it or not! Any help would be great sense im going to work soon!
