Hey Guys,
Just after some help or advice, At work were are able to use 1k acrylic over 2k , My choice to do this as we do not really have a proper spray booth to use 2k.
So i am making panels at my work out of aluminium then using 1k acrylic to paint, were happy with how they turn out , but its only when we go to engrave some then paint fill i am having the issue of the 2 paints reacting (both being acrylic)
so for instance i will paint fill a black panel with white & a white panel with black for the lettering.
ive experimented with a water base paint to fill & on the black panel we can get away with it if i then finish it off with a clear coat.
not getting same results with a white or light color panel though as the black fill smudge's in with the light color.
anyone have any thought on this?
ive also tried to use a black crayon to fill engraving but not really getting good results.
a lot of the engraving we do is only between 0.13 & 0.5 inch in size.
any feedback on this would be great.
panels we have done in 2k are not a problem, but until my work are prepared to get a decent paint booth , ive only agreed to paint with 1k.
Cheers
Riche
I ended up using stick-on lettering from Chartpak. It solved all those problems.
You could put a layer of 1k or 2k over the top - but check on a sample 1st!
Thanks for reply, yeah can't go that way with stick on , I'm still exploring with any ideas , had slightly better results if I did a clear coat of acrylic then back on the cnc for engraving, then fill with black.
