Good day, im going to build and document a Co2 Laser CNC, and publish the results here so we can all discuss and share points of view.
Im still not sure about effective dimension but will be around 1000mm x 1000mm.

Im going to buy first the drive system as it's the harder to mount, so I can get some fun at the time the other parts are being shipped (optics and tube).
Actually im thinking about a belt drive with a 3:1 reduction. Im going to use an HTD5 to transmit power from motor pulley to the pulley in contact with the drive belt.

My problem right now is chosing a drive belt. Balleverman sugest an T5 but the thoots have a lot of free space (backlash) so im not sure how this will play out.

1-Using a HTD would be better for backlash reasons?
2-Would be necessary a 2 belt like in the servo-belt, to reduce the use of tension if my drive is only 1m long?
3-Considering im going to use only 1 belt and no a belt-on-belt, wich belt did you recommend for the drive (htd,at,etc)?
4-Any other recomendations?

Thanks for your time, have a nice day.
