Anyone?
I am doing some research on a DIY add on for my 3d printer for a laser engraver. I do not know much about lasers other than the higher the MW the more powerful the laser. I am currently looking at these two laser modules
450 - 500mW 12V Violet Laser Module-48.75 Online Shopping| GearBest.com
Powerful Blue Laser Dot Module-56.94 Online Shopping| GearBest.com
One is a 5v 1600mw laser and the other is a 12v 500mw. Does the difference in voltage change anything? even though the 1600mw is the higher power laser, does the lower voltage change anything?
Thanks.

The voltage is what the diode laser is rated at, the mw rating is the power, the 1.6 watt laser at only 5 volts will have a higher amperage draw. Get the most wattage you can afford to buy. I have a 5 watt rated running at about 4. JTech in Texas has lots of info and good controllers.
